Sizing guide

Some simple thoughts about height -

We are frequently asked what height we would recommend for kitchen furniture. As a guide, most people are comfortable with 20-25cm of legroom between the top of the stool and the underside of the counter surface and most kitchens are designed with a counter height of 87cm to the underside, this gives us our standard stool height of 67cm.

Of course this may be slightly higher or lower for different people and kitchens. You may wish to sit slightly higher, as if at a drinks bar or slightly lower, as if at a table or desk. Whatever you decide, just get in touch to let us know.

The perfect space -

We always recommend a large seat size if you have the space simply because it suits more people and spaces. Most of our products have been designed with our largest seat size of 38 x 28cm, this includes the Farmhouse, Townhouse and Classic (large seat) but if space is limited or you need to seat more people, our Classic (regular seat) is good choice.

It may be tempting to squeeze in as many seats as possible but for the space to be usable and practical we would recommend a gap of at least 10cm between each stool at the bottom where the stool is widest. The ‘footprint’ measurement is useful here and is the dimension of the furniture at its widest, which is at the bottom (the footprint) of the stool. You can find this measurement listed with the product details.
